In paintings and mixed media pieces, I use a variety of techniques to explore and celebrate color, line and texture.  Inspired by nature, I use watercolors, acrylics, alcohol inks, gouache, pastels and enhanced monoprints in abstract or representational ways to express the sense of wonder and joy that I find in the world around me.  Each medium has its own properties, and they inform each other, conveying vision, surprise, harmony and the beauty of finding one’s place in the natural world. I believe an artist is who you are, rather than what you do.  As an artist, one truly has to wave at everyone walking down the road of life and be able to see the possibility of an unexplored path to the side, compelled to see and pursue his or her own truth.  The path of an artist can be romanticized, but it’s often lonely, misunderstood and controversial; and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  It’s part of the beauty of life, and certainly the way I approach my art.
