I see creating art as a way to savor the beauty of God\u2019s world.\u00a0 When I sit by a river, gaze at a waterfall, or take in the vastness of the mountains, I become awestruck and deeply moved.\u00a0 For me the world of nature speaks of constancy, order, variety, balance, and vibrancy.\u00a0 It hums a melody of peace and conflict while it calms our hearts.\u00a0 It is full of mystery and delight.<\/p>\n

The beauty of the mountains continually nurtures and feeds my artistic soul.\u00a0 You will often find me, camera in hand, hunting for paintable scenes.\u00a0 When I do so, I become intensely aware of the rich colors and textures of God\u2019s creation.\u00a0 Later, when I am in my studio studying my photos, I revisit the scene, and the paintings are birthed in my imagination.\u00a0 Sometimes I use my brushes and other times my palette knives.\u00a0 I love the textures the knives produce.\u00a0 The language of color fascinates me, and I never tire of studying that language.\u00a0 My newest creations are inspirational cards for the healing needs of hurting hearts.<\/p>\n

Over the years, I have studied with Albert Handel, Sally Strand, Daniel Keyes, Susan Sarback and Guido Frick.\u00a0 I am a long-time member of Number 7 Arts and am also represented by Twigs and Leaves Gallery in Waynesville, NC.\u00a0 My work has been seen in the Transylvania Times and other local WNC publications.<\/p>\n
