My work is a simple attempt to spread the word that the animals around us are a special gift.\u00a0 I do this through a combination of imagination, bold color and humor.\u00a0 We must never forget that \u201call animals draw breath from the same source as we do.\u201d\u00a0 They are mystical, spiritual, and as Jonathan Balcome states: \u201cAnimals take pauses.\u00a0 Their worlds, like ours, have stretches of tranquility, moments of pleasure and eruptions of joy.\u201d\u00a0 Enjoy those animals around us, care for them; they will give us great peace and happiness.\u00a0 It is my hope that my work will bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart.<\/p>\n

My wife, Cathy, and I both grew up in Miami, FL.\u00a0 We then moved to Greensboro, NC, where I was an art teacher for 25 years.\u00a0 We raised two wonderful daughters who grew up surrounded by dogs and cats, along with horses, turtles, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, fish and more.\u00a0 Although we\u2019ve spent many special times together, the most memorable were the trips when we spent time volunteering with animals; those had a lasting effect on all of us.\u00a0 This can be seen in my art and in one of our daughter\u2019s career path, which she has devoted to animal rescue.<\/p>\n

Cathy and I now live in the beautiful town of Brevard, NC. where in my sunlit art room I paint almost daily.\u00a0 In addition to Number 7 Arts Gallery, my work can also be found in Seven Sisters Gallery in Black Mountain, NC, and in the Christopher Park Gallery in Greenville, SC.<\/p>\n
